A bit of a ramble today on the subject of wearing hats.
I'm no longer a rebellious teenager who would arrive at school with her hair literally frozen. I now desire warmth and comfort, albeit with a bit of style if I can.
We had a note from the school that children are not wearing coats and don't have suitable shoes on. Brought up in Canada it was snowboots and full snowsuit. It's not quite that cold or snowy here, or is it? And if you get stuck in your car, you will be glad of the right footwear and cover.
I am walking around the outskirts of London and whilst there is a notable increase in hats still many with no hats or gloves. BRRR.
How do you do it?
Take care if you get stuck outside you need to keep your head warm. There are so many options at all prices in the shops, ebay or even my hats online. Keep looking I'm sure you will find a hat that suits.
A few years ago I listened to a talk by a milliner based in Luton. At one time there were 3,000 milliners, now there are only 3 left he said. Maybe this cold snap will revitalise a British industry. There are some great designers such as Stephen Jones who attract media and celebrity attention, we should be proud and wear hats, you can.

Are end of year reflections allowed in November
As the 4myhead.com third birthday passed by so quickly, I thought I would take the opportunity to share my reflections on 2010 and plans for the future
It has been great meeting new people and visiting existing contacts. We have had a successful and exciting year and were pleased to also be able to contribute by organising fundraisings in aid of Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Support, the Lymphoma Association and more recently, the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Plans for 2011 include a new website - moving up in the world and adding an ability to search for items by style and colour and improving the look and feel of the website. If you have any thoughts on what you think would look good, please let me know.
Following demand from friends and family, there are plans to launch a new brand of hats that are suitable for everyone. Some of the existing beret, baker boy and beanie styles are already popular and this will build on the selection available.
Moving out from behind the computer, I was very pleased to come into the Macmillan centre at the Royal Free, host demonstrations including our first Scottish representative and the first home visits this year to Buckinghamshire & Berkshire based ladies. It is great to have direct feedback from clients and to be able to offer some support during this part of their treatment.
I am of course excited that in 2011, it is the first competition for a teenage cancer hat. (More details are on our news section).

Great to see real craftsmanship at the Christmas Fair
We did our first Christmas Fair yesterday at Beaconsfield High School. We were pleased to support the school as we are working with BHS and the Teenage Cancer Trust to develop a new hat for teenagers.
It was great to see the girls buying the crochet flowers. Handmade and very pretty, they were a little treat that was made in the UK. Also beautiful hand made wire jewellery in fantastic designs was very popular. Great to meet others who had more experience and good display skills. Something to think about for next year's fair and as we head off to a ladies evening in December, invite only.
The Baker Boy hat continued to prove popular and looks great on women of all ages, girls to those of us no longer girls. The wool blend suits this style and keeps it looking great whilst also being soft to the touch.
Thank you to the organisers, it was a well run event and a real learning experience.

Christmas Fair at Beaconsfield High School
We have been getting ready for Saturday's first. The first time we've attended a Christmas fair selling our hats. Jo is certainly enjoying wearing her Beryl beret. It has survived the chill, wind and even the rain brilliantly. Very pleased with this wonderful grey wool blend fabric and it pulls down right over my ears.
Looks great on the teenagers as well. So we've put the first pictures of our newest models on the teen cancer hat sites. Need to take some more photos of them in the other styles as well.
So on Saturday we will have our Gyrl headbands. They do not fully cover like the Trndy headband and are being sold as a stocking stuffer for girls or moms. I use mine when working in the garden or washing my face.
Also selling our two Kelly baker boy hats - the heavy weight grey charcoal wool blend and the navy suiting. Might have the denim baker boy in on time, let's see how the post does this week!
Should be a busy and exhausting day but looking forward to getting into the festive spirit.

Christmas hats and scarf styles
We were inspired by a recent home visit when a customer took the Marysa red turban, twisted it sideways and it looked fabulous. So we thought it was time to put together a Christmas video.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Capryscarves
We've picked the hats and scarves we think would work best for the festive season - colours of red, green, purple and black. Those with bright patterns and those plain. Accessorising the black, chocolate brown velvet and green with sparkly items from the high street and wearing the black with a beautiful red & black felt hat.
We hope this is helpful and that you value watching the videos.
Best wishes
