Friendly Steve collected 70 bags from our donation station today.
We held our second annual “Swish/Swap for Cancer Research” on June 25th and turned clothing castoffs into research funds.
4myhead.com designs and retails for hats and headscarves for women experiencing hair loss during cancer treatment. We debuted the event last year.
It was a terrific opportunity for people to thin out their closets, enjoy an evening of socialising and help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Invited guests brought clothes, shoes, hats, jewellery, CD’s, DVD’s and books they no longer needed or wore. Throughout the evening, people swapped items, freshening up their wardrobe or finding that special treasure. At the end of the evening, items that weren't claimed were collected to be donated to the local Cancer Research UK shops.
“Community-based volunteer efforts are vital to our organisation,” remarked Joanna Patching, Area Volunteer Manager for Cancer Research UK. “Not only do they help us spearhead new work to treat and prevent cancer, it inspires people to become active in the fight against a disease that directly affects one in three people in this country.”
4myhead.com supports different charities through fundraising, donations and their information page pointing to support offered by charities, including the Cancer Research Cancerhelp UK website. This helpful page includes information on getting a wig and how to cope with hair loss.
Ideas such as this event, inspire others to get involved in Cancer Research UK’s vital work, as well as raising funds for an important cause.
Experts believe around a quarter of all cancers are linked to diet, obesity and alcohol, so it’s important for people to make sure they’re getting five daily portions of fruit and veg, living a healthy lifestyle – including getting plenty of exercise. For example, walking is free to do and one of the most enjoyable forms of exercise, particularly when walking with friends.

What are the alternatives in the heat of this British summer
I understand how hot you can feel having to cover your head with a wig, scarf or hat. Having recently visited ladies in their home and talked to those I met at the Royal Free Hampstead Macmillan centre, I've put on the front page of our website, www.4myhead.com, the coolest versions for the summer.
The Capry in cotton jersey offers the lightness and softness wanted in the summer. With many stunning and neutral designs to flatter. The Capry in viscose is very light weight and the green and blue suit many different complexions.
As a reminder, the headscarves and hats are designed to be worn easily, stay secure and be comfortable. At the same time we have beautiful fabrics to provide an uplift. Best wishes
