Lymphoma Association

A wonderful team at the Lymphoma Association.  Great publications.  I especially like the advice they have on relaxation, exercise and dealing with a sore mouth and throat.
The leaflets or the helpline team can be reached at
https://www.lymphomas.org.uk/contact/

Very helpful.  Any other thoughts on good relaxation techniques?

Did you know about the Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission is the new health and social care regulator for England.

For example, you can search for your hospital or compare hospitals.
http://2009ratings.cqc.org.uk/findcareservices/informationabouthealthcareservices.cfm

If you look at the Royal Marsden they rank as Excellent across all of the measures, Quality of Services; Meeting Core Standards; Assessment of Existing Commitments; Assessment of National Priorities, etc.

CancerHelp UK (Cancer Research site on hair loss)

We are thrilled that we are now on the Cancer Research, CancerHelp UK page on Hair loss and wigs.
The bit at the bottom of http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/about-cancer/cancer-questions/hair-loss-and-wigs#resource.

We will continue to support Cancer Research and are starting to think about the plans for our 2010 fundraiser.  The 'swish' party was so well received last year it seems a good idea to do it again and extend it.  Any ideas or thoughts welcome.

What can I do to help?

I noticed the book, What can I do to help? at UCLH Macmillan.  This contains 75 practical ideas for family and friends from cancer's frontline.  The author is Deborah Hutton and proceeds support Macmillan cancer relief.

I would recommend to anyone with a friend or family going through a serious illness.  For example, idea 29 is to Offer to be an outpatient companion.  I certainly felt this was helpful when we had an illness in the family and simply having someone collect and take us to appointments was invaluable.

The book is available on amazon.co.uk, which can be accessed through the link on this blog or on www.4myhead.com/aboutus.php.
